Rudy Warnock's profile

Top Three Renewable Energy Sources

Experienced in business development, Rudy Warnock is a military veteran who owned and operated Warnock & Associates, LLC, one of the most profitable engineering firms in Mississippi. In addition to his expertise in project management, Rudy Warnock is also interested in renewable energy.

Commonly referred to as clean energy, renewable energy is derived from resources that replenish naturally. Below are the top three sources of renewable energy in the world:

1. Hydropower

Hydropower is by far the most abundant source of renewable energy, with a world generation of 4,222.21 terawatt-hours (TWh), nearly three times the generation from wind, according to the 2019 BP Statistical Review of Global Energy. Due to its commercial viability, hydropower is seen as more accessible and more easily developed than other sources of renewable energy. Furthermore, electricity generated from turbines in large reservoirs can be controlled, generating the needed power during peak periods by the release of water. Some countries that rely heavily on hydropower are Canada, Sweden, Norway, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, Colombia, Iceland, and New Zealand.

2. Wind

Next to hydropower wind energy is second, and its generation increased from 276.05 TWh in 2009 to 1,429.62 TWh in 2019. Energy is harnessed from wind turbines that are typically built on wind farms, large groups of turbines which can be on land or offshore. The two countries with the largest wind energy generation are the United States and China.

3. Solar

Solar is another rapidly growing source of energy, whose generation increased from 20.97 TWh in 2009 to 724.09 TWh in 2019. Although the amount of solar energy is abundant, its variability has made large scale solar development a major challenge. Similar to wind energy, the United States and China had the biggest installed solar energy capacities as of 2019.
